Newcastle May Event

You can now book onto our May City Ladies Networking breakfast, held as usual at Newcastle Gateshead Hilton.

Organised and hosted by familiar faces Antonia, Natalie and Sophie, this session will feature our incredible spotlight, Kathryn Rodgers.

Kathryn is a chartered CIPD member with 21 years’ HR experience across a variety of sectors and countries – and in that time she’s seen more than her fair share of tick-boxes and regulation frameworks that completely ignore the human component. She’s had enough of HR that is much more about numbers than about people; she believes that what really makes the difference between the businesses that engage with and retain their teams, and the ones that don’t, is communication.

Kathryn has been running her HR Consultancy since 2018 and brought it back to Newcastle in 2022. She’s a proud Geordie so is delighted to be working with small and mighty businesses in her home town.

This event is supported by NatWest Enterprise. As the Local Enterprise Manager for the Northeast, it's Nickie Kilkenny's responsibility to support businesses in the community, regardless of who you bank with. Nickie is accredited in business growth by the Institute of Entrepreneurs and Entrepreneurship (IOEE). Nickie is also Women in Business accredited by Every Woman, designed to support the growth in female led businesses. Many have great ideas and the skills to start their own business but just lack the guidance or confidence to take the first step in achieving their ambitions. Nickie looks to add value and growth to SMEs to stay ahead of the curve, whether it be through one-to-one mentoring or by attending a local event - she is here to boost your business.

Nickie proactively spends time supporting local businesses by sharing advice, creating networks, leveraging the local ecosystem, and hosting events to help boost business.

So come and enjoy breakfast, visit a lovely venue and meet lots of like-minded women face to face. Don't forget your business cards.

Parking is free at this event.

Newcastle June Event

You can now book onto our June City Ladies Networking breakfast, held as usual at Newcastle Gateshead Hilton.

Organised and hosted by familiar faces Antonia, Natalie and Sophie, this session will feature our incredible spotlight, Jess Allan.

Jess is an Aerodynamic Performance Engineer at Alpine F1 team, and previously worked as a Data Engineer at Red Bull Racing. Growing up in the North East of England and attending several Grand Prix, she was always interested in engineering, but the lack of representation of women in F1 meant she didn't see it as a viable option for her career until after her degree. During University she spent time working at CERN on the LHC experiment and worked on a number of programs that provided mentorship for women in STEM. After obtaining her honour's degree in Physics from Boston University, she worked at tech start-ups in the Boston area and volunteered at Science Club for Girls, a non-profit that provides free after-school science programs in an attempt to address inequalities in STEM around race, gender, and socioeconomics. Now based in the UK, she works remotely with the Massachusetts STEM Hub as an industry professional, giving feedback on student projects and providing virtual classroom visits. She won the 2023 Women Leaders UK Award in the Engineering, Science, and Maths category for work in her community. In her spare time, she likes to research ways that companies can overcome the lack of racial and gender diversity in STEM through more inclusive hiring practices and policies. She enjoys cycling around the Oxford area, knitting, and attending her local book club..
